Last night I was watching Pat Foran’s report on CTV News about someone who purchased a house from the listing agent and after he moved in, he realized the house was the Pearson International Airport flight path so the peace and quiet he was hoping to get when he purchased the home wasn’t quite possible.
The Wynne government has decided to extend rent control to buildings built after 1991. What a horrible decision. They did so to appease their voting base because an election year is coming. They did this under the guise of helping renters.
When I take on a listing, I always impress upon my clients the importance of an open house. Open houses give prospective buyers a chance to see the property. In today’s marketplace, there are many buyers without agents when they want to familiarize themselves with the market.
It’s a popular question I get asked these days. How do I cash out and take advantage of today’s real estate market conditions? I think it takes a fundamental shift in the way you envision your living space. Ultimately, in order to sell your home today, you will need to downsize your living space in some capacity. Is that a smaller house? A large condo? A triplex?
It’s the most common question today. What should the government do to quell the demand and the rising prices of the real estate dam? Can they really legislate demand and make consumers not want something they inherently want?
Many, years ago, I read Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad. For those who haven’t read the book, it’s a fictional story of Robert’s experience growing up with a father who worked hard at a salaried job and his friend’s father who was an entrepreneur.
It seems as though almost every week, I have a buyer or agent asking me about a 2 bedroom condo. They clearly are in extremely high demand right now. The average size of a condo in a newer building these days is around 550 sq ft. No wonder larger 2 bedroom units are in such high demand.
Before I became an agent, I spent almost 10 years in advertising sales & marketing so when I became an agent, marketing a property was a no-brainer. I’d spent so much of my time coming up with great marketing and promotion ideas for the largest retailers and consumer product goods companies. I simply translated everything I knew about marketing and sales into selling a house/condo.
